Before an update
The Update readiness area combines technical conditions that are useful before larger updates.
- Current backup: detected backup solution and, where locally available, age of the latest backup.
- Free disk space: room for downloading and unpacking new files.
- Update folder usable: WordPress must be able to use its upgrade area.
- Background updates: indicates whether automatic updates are fundamentally disabled.
- WordPress.org reachable: derived from the timestamp of WordPress’s normal update checks; WM Guard does not create an extra request solely for this item.
Note: “Ready” does not guarantee that a specific update will be error-free. A tested backup remains essential before production updates.
