The WordPress indexability setting is read locally. Disabled visibility may be intentional on a staging site but should be a deliberate choice on a production site.

Maintenance and coming-soon modes

WM Guard detects settings from several common maintenance solutions. To avoid treating a stored plugin switch as proof that visitors are actually blocked, an anonymous self-request to the homepage can additionally be performed after optional online diagnostics are allowed.

When is the site considered blocked?

The self-test treats a real HTTP 503 response in particular as an active maintenance condition. If the self-request cannot be performed, WM Guard does not manufacture an alarm from the missing result.
